How to Fix Splay Leg in Your Chick or Keet

Splayed chick legs happen. Why? Possibly due to temperature shifts in the incubator, or trouble hatching. Our last two guineas had splay leg. So all I had to do was this quick procedure and they are running around like normal! It’s pretty simple: Cut a small (3 inch) strip of self adhesive bandage Cut it again lengthwise. Wrap the end around the chicks leg, and secure the other end on the other leg. At first it will look like they can’t walk, but let me reassure you, they’ll get around just fine. I took their splints off after nearly 24 hours and their legs were perfectly normal. If you notice your chicks legs splaying, do this quick fix and they’ll be good as gold in no time. #splayleg #chickshatching #hatchingproblems #chickproblems #homesteading #splayleginchicks #legproblemsinchicks #fixsplayleg #guineafowl #babychickens #chicks #keets #hatchingeggs #farmlife #homesteadingfamily
