This legend is a Sundanese folktale that explains the origin of the name of the Pamali River and the origins of the relationship between the Sundanese and Javanese people. It tells the story of two brothers who competed and ruled on the same island. This story clearly demonstrates that the Sundanese kingdom (the Galuh Kingdom) is older than the kingdoms established in Central and East Java. This clearly demonstrates that the Sundanese are the older brothers of the Javanese.
