In today’s adventure, I’m leaving Mogotes with one clear goal: get to Villa de Leyva as fast as possible! With heavy rain clouds looming, the plan was to stick to the main highway for a quick journey. But as every traveler knows, Colombia always has other plans. Just past San Gil, my "fast" route was cut short by a massive strike and a highway closure. Luckily, I found a beautiful off-road detour that gave me a rare, truck-free experience on the road. But the challenges didn't stop there! A second roadblock forced me onto a familiar dirt road, where I had to race against threatening black clouds and navigate through unexpected roadwork. It was a race against time, the elements, and the terrain. Did I make it to Villa de Leyva in one piece? Well, mostly... just a little bit wet!
