Municipalities place burn bans into effect; officials share how it changes Fourth of July celebratio

At a TNT Fireworks stand in Newberry Township, workers say business has been slower than expected in the days leading up to the Fourth of July. While they typically see a steady surge of last-minute customers ahead of the holiday, staff say this week has been noticeably quieter. They believe the combination of extreme heat and expanding burn bans across the region may be playing a role in the slowdown. For customers who do stop in, safety and restrictions are top of mind. “It's a little extra special, since it's a 250,” said customer Wes Mowers, referencing this year’s national milestone. “I know they just posted [a burn ban] in Newberry Township and that’s where I live.
