L'origine du langage, apports de la linguistique et de la paléoanthropologie

Lecture on Monday, June 8, 2026, with Amélie Vialet, paleoanthropologist, and Jacques François, linguist. The mastery of spoken language by species other than our own (Homo sapiens) is a subject as intriguing as it is debated because speech does not fossilize. Two researchers, a linguist and a paleoanthropologist, worked closely together to try to reconstruct the most plausible proto-languages, from Australopithecus to Neanderthals, including Homo erectus. This resulted in the documentary series "Back to Prehistory," broadcast on France Culture in the fall of 2025. This lecture is an opportunity to review what we know about our ancestors' speech capabilities and what we can postulate regarding the development, over time, of true language. Camille Renard, director of podcasts at Radio France, and Franck Bessière, producer of the documentary series, will also be present to discuss this bold radio project. A conference in partnership with the Friends of the Musée de l'Homme. Learn more --- https://www.museedelhomme.fr/fr/confe...
