However, in the words of Shinran Shonin recorded in the Kyogyoshinsho (General Preface), "Turn evil into virtue," the meanings of "turn" and "virtue" are completely different from those found in dictionaries. Furthermore, Shinran Shonin uses the word "evil" in a completely different sense than that found in dictionaries. So, what do "turn," "virtue," and "evil" mean in this context?
