Why People Still Play Dungeons and Dragons Online (the MMO) in 2025

Today I'm discussing the appeal of Dungeons and Dragons online and why a small but very dedicated community enjoys this in depth and engaging MMORPG. Dungeons and Dragons Online was originally released in 2006 by Turbine Studios. The same studio that also released the groundbreaking Asheron's Call, its sequel, and Lord of the Rings Online. While never becoming as successful of a company as Blizzard, they did manage to have an innovative influence on the mmorpg genre as a whole, with Asheron’s Call's massive open world, Lotro's immersive story and roleplaying atmosphere, and Dungeons and Dragons Online's engaging dungeon exploration. Dungeons and Dragon's online, or DDO for short is now run by Standing Stone games an indie offshoot of the original Turbine which no longer exists. I am here to answer the question of why people still play this game today. If you like this content, please like and subscribe!
