Metoprolol is a 'specific' Beta blocker because it only blocks the Beta-1 receptor which you find in the heart and kidneys. That's a good things because it avoids some of the side effects you see in other non-specific beta blockers. However, that doesn't mean metoprolol can't have side effects.
