確率5:余事象の確率《北海道大2006年》

Before getting into the main topic, I prepared two thumbnails for the video "Probability 1: The Essence of Probability ① (Kyoto University 2012 Humanities)". One thumbnail has "Kyoto University 2012 Humanities" written on it, and the other does not. Tests on YouTube showed that the thumbnail without the university name had a higher viewer playback rate, so the latter thumbnail is currently used automatically. I understand that YouTube wants as many users as possible to watch the videos, meaning that view count is everything, but personally, I don't want to reach an indiscriminate number of people. The target audience is quite limited due to the level of content covered in the course. It's not something someone with a low academic ability (like a 45偏差値) should force themselves to watch. Having the university name on the thumbnail narrows the audience, but that's intentional. That's all for now. I might discuss this again in the future, but that's all for now. I've met with more than five friends in the past month. They include work acquaintances, university classmates, middle and high school classmates, and former students. Each meeting was one-on-one, and none of them are school teachers. At the end of March, I'm going to visit several friends who are school teachers and live in another prefecture. What struck me during these conversations is that while everyone has a job, they don't know what they want to do if they quit, and their work isn't something they're passionate about dedicating their lives to. Some even said they could quit their jobs right now and their families wouldn't have financial problems for the rest of their lives, but they can't bring themselves to quit because they don't know what they would do then. What I want to emphasize again here is the importance of seriously and continuously thinking about what you want to do with your life. Thinking about it occasionally or on a whim isn't enough; you need to "continue thinking" about it every single day. It's likely that people like Eiichiro Oda, the creator of One Piece, Makoto Shinkai, the director of Your Name, popular singers, and professional athletes all discovered what they wanted to do with their lives in their teens and simply poured their time and effort into pursuing it. If there are any students reading this who haven't yet decided what they want to do with their lives (I think 95% of you are in that situation), you should start thinking about it from this moment on. Reflect on the past decade or so of your life and think about what interests you, what you like, what makes you happy, and how you want to be at the end of your life. There are no answers in this text, and you'll never find the answer by simply browsing social media. You must continue to think seriously until you find it. In some cases, you may need to meet people or go out to search for answers. If you only vaguely pursue what you want to do, your life will inevitably be taken over by others. For example, I feel that most YouTubers are like this; before they know it, they're not doing what they want to do, but what society demands. Society mercilessly takes away your time and your spirit. You should think with the highest possible resolution. You probably need to find it by the time you graduate from university. And by the age of 25, or at the latest 30, you need to be working on something you want to dedicate your life to. Taking action is even harder than finding it, because it requires the willingness to take risks, big or small. It doesn't have to be a job, but if it's not, you'll end up spending a lot of time on other work to make ends meet. Therefore, ideally, you should be able to earn a living doing something you want to dedicate your life to while you're still in university. If you get a job somewhere, you'll end up spending a lot of time and energy on things that are unrelated to what you want to do. And the reason for aiming for 30 is that by 30, you'll need to dedicate your time to your family and children to increase your own happiness in life. "To increase your own happiness in life," you start looking ahead and passing the baton to the next generation. If you miss that timing, your thinking will likely change drastically from your 20s and beyond, and you'll probably regret it. For me personally, what I want to dedicate my life to is leaving behind this class. Just as someone left inscriptions on stone tablets at some ancient ruin, or as royalty left behind pyramids. Speaking for myself, I decided to become a cram school instructor during my year of studying for university entrance exams. From then until 2014, I worked tirelessly as a cram school instructor. I broke down physically and mentally, quit everything, and spent a lot of time thinking about what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. I realized I wanted to record my lessons o...
