The re-livestream of Race 1, Touring Car Golden Era, from August 12, 2023, at the 50th Oldtimer Grand Prix at the Nürburgring. The "Golden Era" of motorsport, above all the German Touring Car Championship (DTM), defined this term like no other racing series. A virtually classless set of regulations that allowed for spectacular duels with near-production cars and generated images watched by well over 100,000 people on-site and millions of fans at home on television, images that remain etched in the collective memory to this day – across generations. Originating from the era of the German Racing Championship (DRM) (1971-1985), the DTM (1984-1996) eventually transitioned, for cost reasons, into the two-liter Super Touring Car Championship (STW) (1993-1999) and the European Championship (2000-1999). The World Touring Car Championship ETCC/WTCC (2000-2006) was second to none in terms of action and excitement, delivering lap times on par with today's GT3 cars thanks to technical innovations. These three decades of motorsport had one thing in common: wheel-to-wheel battles with nearly equally matched cars, a true challenge for the driver, on whose skill practically everything depended. That's why we still celebrate these drivers as our undisputed heroes. Stars from a time when beer and sausage were shared in the paddock and drivers were always approachable for their fans. Historic events are perfectly suited to bringing the "Golden Age" of motorsport back to life. The Oldtimer Grand Prix at the Nürburgring is one of the most traditional classic car festivals in Europe and thus represents the highlight of the historic motorsport season in Germany.
