If you have read this first line it is because you are a special person since you read the descriptions of the videos and I invite you to leave me a comment with an elephant emoticon. Before entering the description of this beautiful place I want to enter the link in which you can see other towns of Antioquia. ANTIOQUIAN MUNICIPALITIES: • MUNICIPIOS ANTIOQUEÑOS BEACHES OF COLOMBIA: • PLAYAS COLOMBIANAS Venecia is a municipality of Colombia, located in the southwestern subregion of the department of Antioquia. It is bordered on the north by the municipalities of Titiribí and Amagá, on the east by the municipality of Fredonia, on the south by the municipalities of Fredonia and Tarso, and on the west by the municipalities of Concordia and Salgar. Its capital is 60 km from the city of Medellín, capital of the department of Antioquia. The municipality has an area of 141 km². History: The indigenous ethnic groups of the "Titiribíes" and "Sinifanaes" (Titiribíes-Sinifanaes complex, In: Arcila, 1969 -see external link), were the original inhabitants of these lands. During the well-known expedition of Jorge Robledo through the current region of southwestern Antioquia, through the meadows of the Cauca River heading north in 1561. Still today there are innumerable vestiges and indigenous remembrances of great archaeological, anthropological and touristic value in the municipality. Among them are the Cuevas de Santa Catalina, a site of offerings, the Petroglyphs in the La Amalia and La Rana de Cinco Patas (The Frog of Five Legs) in the Arabia trail. The first colonists settled here in 1860, initially dedicated to sugar cane and later to coffee. Several sugar mills were established near the present town. The haciendas La Amalia, La India and La Loma initiated large-scale coffee cultivation in the country, and before the end of the XIX century they were the most important producers in Colombia. The Hacienda La Amalia not only distinguished itself as a great emporium, but in the region of La Rita it established the first threshing machine in the Department of Antioquia. In 1898 the Providencia parish was created in honor of San Pablo and Santa Teresita. This parish gave way in 1909 to the current parish, dedicated to San José, and with its creation the new municipality of Venecia was also created, segregated from the territory of Fredonia. The district is named after the Italian city of Venice because the territory was originally a lagoon. It also once had the name of Providencia. Venice has, at present, a very important tourist projection, which will be taken into account in the tourist megaprojects of Antioquia that are in planning. In its vicinity, Cerro Tusa (Latitude: 5° 57' 59" North, Longitude: 75° 46' 15" West), the highest natural pyramid in the world, is a surprise. There are also indigenous trails with vestiges of the work of the aborigines, and mule trails that today are traveled on horseback. It also enjoys a very good quality hotel offer. The coffee farms are still common in the landscapes near the town center. The village of Bolombolo, located on the banks of the Cauca River, is one of the favorite tourist destinations for the inhabitants of the municipality.
