Lackowa (997.1 m above sea level) is the highest peak on the Polish side of the Low Beskids, located between Krynica-Zdrój and Wysowa, on the border with Slovakia. It rises with a dome clearly visible from afar above the villages of Izby and Bieliczna. Originally, the mountain bore the Lemko name Łackowa (Wackowa). Other, less common names include Pułaski's Chorągiewka (Chain of Puławy), Lachowa, and is sometimes jokingly called Police Mountain (Góra Policyjna) due to its height. Lackowa belongs to the Crown of Polish Mountains (Korągiewka Gór Polski). The western slope of the mountain, along which the red hiking trail runs, is the steepest section of the marked trail in the Low Beskids and one of the steepest in the Polish mountains (outside the Tatras). The #King of the Mountains challenge is a project aimed at promoting the Crown of Polish Mountains campaign, which includes the 28 highest peaks of individual mountain ranges in Poland. The Crown of Polish Mountains aims not only to alleviate the burden on the most popular mountains, primarily the Tatras, and popularize many other attractive, yet unknown mountain ranges, but also to provide in-depth knowledge of these regions of the country, with their history, nature, geological past, and contemporary culture. The #KingofMountains challenge aims to introduce viewers to the individual peaks of the KGP by creating video guides, as well as the website www.niechtoszlak.info with descriptions of all 28 peaks, practical information, and interesting facts. Each peak features a QR code, which, when scanned, will display a page with a video created for all those who aspire to become Kings of the Mountains and conquer the peaks belonging to the Crown of Polish Mountains.
