Draymond Green - Defensive Dynamo 15/16

Draymond Green is a two-time runner up to the Defensive Player of the Year award. His ability to guard any and every position at an elite level is a big part of what propelled the Golden State Warriors to the best regular season in NBA history. The ability for him to man the middle, and play the center spot is what allowed their “death lineup” to wreak so much havoc on the league. Dray's versatility, intelligence, and, ruggedness on defense, as well as his leadership and unrelenting passion, serve as the heartbeat of such a great team. This video is about how special a defender he is, especially during the regular season (in fact, all these clips are from just this past 2015-16 season, so nothing from the playoffs YET). A player who was arguably robbed of a DPOY last year (by virtue of having more first place votes than the actual winner), usually doesn’t improve greatly…but there is nothing usual about Green anyway. His coming in second this season was not a surprise, because Kawhi entirely deserved it this year, but Coach Kerr’s insistence on using the death lineup as a hammer when the game needs to be put away is perfect. That lineup is the hammer, and it really puts the nail in the coffin. Yes, they didn’t finish with a ring, but as it stands, their regular season was a feat in and of itself, so let’s pay homage to one of the keys to making it happen. Hell, the guy is so special, that he threw a 5 by 5 to keep the greatest start in NBA history alive. That puts him in absolutely elite company. That’s what Draymond has surrounded himself with anyway, with his NBA championship, all-star selection, all-NBA nods, and the like, which is not bad considering this guy was a second round draft pick.
