Rev. Claudius Henry, founder of the Peacemakers Association and the first to be tried for treason in Jamaica since the enactment of the Treason Act in the 1800s. In the late 1950s Henry came to the public’s attention following his Back to Africa convention in 1959. Shortly after he was arrested and charged for treason, causing Henry’s son to allegedly have attempted an overthrow of the government in efforts to free his father.
