Melee Home-Run Contest History: Captain Falcon's WR strat

This collection of HRC videos shows how Captain Falcon's world record strategy has evolved over time. The videos are presented as-is, without much narration or annotation. Captain Falcon's HRC is a perfect example of a category where a player's success hinges on their ability to do the fastest possible catch-drop sequence (double Z press). Their heavily cyclical nature makes it very difficult to be consistent, especially when the sandbag lands upside down after a combo. Sin was arguably the first person to truly master Falcon's bat drop combos, and nothing new seemed possible until I discovered a groundbreaking new technique for fast double Z presses. In 2018, iid01 found a creative setup for a 21% bat drop falcon punch, which added 5% at the expense of a lower launch point due to the track ending. In October 2022, I found that it was just about possible to perform sin's old 2007 ending after 10 bds, which is the strategy at the end of this video.
