Warum wird Mehrsprachigkeit an Schulen als Defizit betrachtet? | Timm Albers | TEDxBolzano

The increasing significance of multilingualism in society is highlighted, with Europe boasting over 175 languages and the world containing more than 7000 languages. Despite theoretical acceptance, real-world biases persist, affecting children's experiences, especially in education where certain languages are deemed more valuable. Children, however, naturally adapt to multiple languages, and it's crucial for educational institutions to embrace and support this diversity. Professor Timm Albers deals with children's special educational needs as a professor of inclusive education at the University of Paderborn. His research focuses on language acquisition and child development in early childhood. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx
