Présidence de la BAD : Le Bénin et la Mauritanie font cause commune autour de Sidi Ould TAH
On Friday, May 9, 2025, at the Marina Palace, the President of the Republic of Benin, Mr. Patrice Talon, received an official delegation from Mauritania led by Mr. Sid'Amed Ould Bouh, who carried a message from his Mauritanian counterpart, President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani. This meeting also served to strengthen the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries. During this audience, Mr. Sid'Amed Ould Bouh, Minister of Economy and Finance of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, conveyed President Ghazouani's warm greetings to the Head of State before discussing the candidacy of Dr. Sidi Ould Tah for the presidency of the African Development Bank (AfDB), a candidacy supported by Benin. “…Benin and Mauritania have been coordinating on a number of issues for some time now.” And the last matter that received special attention from our two Heads of State was Mauritania's candidacy for the presidency of the African Development Bank, represented by Dr. Sidi Ould Tah, who is here with me on this mission. President Patrice Talon dispatched special envoys to Nouakchott last week: the Minister of State for Development and Coordination of Government Action, Mr. Abdoulaye Bio Tchané, and the Minister of State, Minister of Economy and Finance, Mr. Romuald Wadagni. Both came to express, on behalf of President Talon, to his brother, President Mohamed Ould Cheikh El Ghazouani, Benin's support for Mauritania's candidacy to the AfDB,” he declared after the meeting. This meeting reflects a convergence of views between the two Heads of State on the future of sub-regional integration and development in Africa. It marks an important step in strengthening diplomatic relations between Benin and Mauritania. Also present at this meeting were the Minister of State for Development and Coordination of Government Action, Mr. Abdoulaye Bio Tchané, and the Minister of State, Minister of Economy and Finance in charge of Cooperation, Mr. Romuald Wadagni.
