The hovercraft connecting Oita City and Oita Airport has launched a new PR campaign. It's a collaboration with a popular VTuber who grew up in Oita. I'm Shirogane Noel, the captain of the hovercraft, formerly known as the leader of Hololive's 3rd generation." Shirogane Noel is a popular VTuber who grew up in Oita Prefecture. She has taken on the role of PR for this campaign, aiming to promote the hovercraft both within and outside the prefecture, and to attract younger generations. Inside the hovercraft, you can enjoy illustrations of Shirogane Noel as well as special videos. ◆TOS Reporter Yuka Nonaka "A life-size panel of Noel Shirogane has appeared at the hovercraft boarding area. She's dressed in a captain's uniform, welcoming passengers." ◆Norifumi Oda, President of Oita Daiichi Hover Drive "Noel herself has ties to Oita. We hope to work together to revitalize Oita." The collaboration project between the hovercraft and Noel Shirogane will run until the end of November 2026. ◆Norifumi Oda, President of Oita Daiichi Hover Drive "Our Beppu Bay sightseeing service, currently operating during the day, will begin nighttime operations." Regarding the hovercraft, it was announced on the 2nd that nighttime operations for the Beppu Bay sightseeing service will begin on June 19th. After about six months of training, permission for nighttime operations was granted by the Kyushu Transport Bureau on May 28th. The nighttime service departing from and arriving at Nishi-Oita will operate once every Friday at 7:45 PM. Reservations will be available from noon on June 15th via the free messaging app LINE and other platforms. The airline also aims to operate nighttime flights to and from Oita Airport in the future.
