O Nosso Lixo (2/3) - Caminhos da Reportagem (22/03/2012)
Wherever humans go, they leave their mark. One of these marks is the garbage that accumulates in nature every day. Millions of tons of waste are produced daily, more than the planet can handle. The Caminhos team followed the daily lives of Brazilians who live and work among mountains of waste. More than a million people are in this situation. And, worse, they still don't know what they will do after the law comes into effect, which mandates the closure of landfills by 2014, as determined by the National Solid Waste Policy. The program also presents experiences of people and cities that have learned to use waste to create new products and generate jobs for waste pickers. What to do with the waste produced at home? Are Brazilians giving this waste the right destination?
