Tutorial: Steeking basics
In this video for our Skill Builder Box yarn club, Elizabeth explains the basics of steeking, a technique where a project is worked in the round and then cut vertically to create a flat piece of fabric (often used for stranded colourwork). Elizabeth shows three different methods for reinforcing your steek: with needle-felting, crochet, and hand-sewing. She also covers the process of cutting the steek, picking up stitches along the steeked edge to create a border, and finishing the steeked edge on the wrong side of the work.
