In Episode 2 of The Hidden Pearl, we leave the beaches of Negombo behind and begin our journey towards Sigiriya, one of Sri Lanka's most iconic destinations. Along the way, we stop for refreshing king coconut water before visiting a traditional spice and herbal garden, where we learn about Sri Lanka's famous spices, Ayurvedic herbs, and centuries-old natural remedies. Our next stop is one of the highlights of the trip—the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. Watching dozens of elephants make their way through the streets before gathering in the river for their daily bath was an unforgettable experience and one we'll never forget. Before continuing our journey, we stop at a local roadside restaurant to try authentic Sri Lankan hoppers for the very first time—a meal that gave us our first real taste of the country's incredible cuisine. By late afternoon, we arrive in Sigiriya. After a long day on the road, there's no better way to unwind than with a traditional Ayurvedic massage, followed by dinner and checking into the beautiful Sigiriya Village Hotel, ready for the adventures waiting in the days ahead.
