The Pacific Connection 1 project, one of the most important 4G projects in Colombia to connect Medellín with the southwest and the country's ports, remains unfinished after almost a decade of construction, accumulating delays and technical problems. It currently faces four critical points that seriously affect mobility and whose impact extends beyond Antioquia to affect national competitiveness. 1. Landslide in Sinifaná (2019): This destroyed a key section, forcing a complete redesign of the sector. The solution—a double-tube tunnel and viaducts—already has designs and studies, but depends on a still-undefined allocation of 600 billion pesos from the National Government, making this point the most critical. 2. Pasonivel–Angelópolis Turnarounds: At the community's request, two turnarounds are being built to avoid long detours. One is already open, while the other faces geotechnical difficulties and requires road closures of five hours a day for a year. Although it has already secured funding, it awaits permit approval. 3 and 4. Caldas Bypass and section toward Ancón Sur (Functional Unit 4): This section was never contracted for concession and was left to INVIAS, which left the two ends untouched, causing serious bottlenecks, especially due to a toll on a narrow road and the lack of an interchange. Although the designs are ready, there are no allocated resources or defined schedule, seriously affecting regional and national mobility. Engineer Daniel Montoya, a resident of the area, has documented these problems to highlight their impact and demand solutions. He believes the overall delay could extend another two to three years, reaching almost eight years behind the initial schedule. 0:00 Introduction 4:11 FACTOR #1 Sinifaná Landslide 7:04 FACTOR #2 Level Pass Returns – Angelopolis 9:40 FACTOR #3 & 4 Bottlenecks + Tolls 13:06 New Factor to Consider: Bank Loss via Antigua 15:11 Nearby Solutions 16:24 Final Conclusion 17:36 Special Thanks 17:56 Final _____________________________________________________________ This video was an audiovisual creation based on the compilation of different visual media for the production of this video.
