Ka ākona hoki e tātou tōna noho ki Tāmaki Makaurau, me te hirahira o ōna tapuwae ki reira mō āna uri whakaheke. ___ This episode of Waka Huia explores the journey of the Ngāti Awa ancestress, Wairaka. Typically known as the heroine who rescued the Mataatua Waka and the reason the town of Whakatāne has its name. We also learn about the time she spent in Auckland and the different places she ventured to that still hold significance to her descendants today.
