Poppy Family (Terry & Susan Jacks), Everly Bros LET'S GO
The Poppy Family and Everly Brothers on CBC Vancouver's edition of LET'S GO, a show devised for and featuring the young. When teenagers Terry Jacks married Susan Pesklevits, both regulars on the mid 1960s pop music series, they didn't become the Jacks Family but the Poppy Family. The national teen series debuted in 1964 and for the first few years the soloist guests were backed by the house band, initially the Classics and later Probably Us. When the Beatles made bands popular, soloists formed their own bands, like Howie Vickers who formed the Collectors, Mike Campbell the Glass House, Bob Buckley & Terry Frewer became Spring, and Terry & Susan, with Craig McCaw on lead guitar and Satwant Singh on tablas, became the Poppy Family. Mike Hendrickse was on drums. The TV series also included interviews with internationally popular performers. Terry Jacks (#1 1974 "Seasons in the Sun"sold 10 million copies) talks with Don & Phil, the Everly Brothers, who had a succession of #1 hits starting in 1957 and a unique harmony that made them famous throughout the world..
