How to Cut and Sew Hip and Butt Padding (Booty Pads Materials Needed High-density foam / upholstery foam (½–1 inch thick) Power net / strong lining fabric Stretch fabric (lycra or spandex) for cover Waist elastic (1–2 inches) Tailor’s chalk Scissors Sewing machine Measuring tape Step 1: Take Measurements Measure: Waist Hip round Butt fullness area (from side hip to center back) Length from waist to lower butt Step 2: Draft the Pattern Draw a half pant shape or short biker-short shape on paper. Mark hip line and butt curve clearly. Decide padding areas: Hip pads: side hip curve Butt pads: center back, rounded shape Add seam allowance (½–1 inch). Step 3: Cut the Padding Foam Cut foam into crescent or oval shapes for hips. Cut rounded heart or oval shapes for the butt. Taper the edges with scissors so they blend naturally (very important). Step 4: Cut the Fabric Cut the main pant from power net or stretch fabric. Cut small fabric pieces to cover each foam pad. Step 5: Cover the Foam Pads Wrap foam with fabric. Sew neatly around the edges. Trim excess fabric. Step 6: Attach Pads to the Base Pin hip pads to side hip area. Pin butt pads at center back. Stitch firmly using zigzag or stretch stitch. Step 7: Assemble the Padding Short Sew inner and outer seams. Attach elastic to the waist. Finish hems neatly. Step 8: Final Check Turn inside out and test fit. Adjust pad placement if needed.
