Almsgiving is not limited to material goods; physical and non-material acts of worship, such as helping others with one's energy and thoughts, smiling, supporting one's family, teaching knowledge, remembering Allah, and even having sexual relations, are all considered almsgiving. The scope of almsgiving in Islam is very broad. However, what is more important is that the possessions we have must also be given to people in need. The Prophet said: "You removing stones, thorns and bones from the middle of the road is charity for you." (HR. Bukhari). "Your smile to your brother is charity." (HR.
