Greater Glasgow Police Pipe Band at the 2016 Belfast UK Championships

Greater Glasgow Police Pipe Band under Pipe Major Iain MacPherson were second to play in the Grade One competition at the UK Pipe Band Championships held on 11 June 2016 in the beautiful grounds of the Stormont Estate in Belfast. This was an MSR competition and the band's set was: March: The Links of Forth [traditional] Strathspey: Atholl Cummers [traditional] Reel: Pretty Marion [traditional] Conditions were murky, damp and dull. It had just stopped raining and the sunshine had yet to appear. The championships comprised competitions in nine different grades for pipe bands and two for drum majors. 105 bands and 46 drum majors took part and were scored and ranked by a team of 24 adjudicators. The event was very accessible. Admission was free, although a programme cost £5. The day was organised by Belfast City Council and The Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association. And nothing went wrong.
