Marcelo Álvaro desafia Carlos Viana sobre o metrô: "Mostre uma reunião" | Café com Política
In an interview on the program "Café com Política," federal deputy Marcelo Álvaro Antônio (PL-MG) refuted Senator Carlos Viana's (PSD-MG) claim that he was responsible for allocating R$ 2.8 billion for the expansion of the Belo Horizonte metro and its metropolitan region. According to Marcelo, who assumed the position of general secretary of the PL in Minas Gerais, the senator did not participate in any of the approximately 20 meetings between various federal government agencies to structure the project and release the funds during the administration of then-President Jair Bolsonaro (PL). "Senator Carlos Viana is acting like an engineer after a project has been completed and is trying to appropriate a topic in which he had no involvement whatsoever," emphasized the federal deputy. According to him, the senator only forwarded, at the request of the federal government, the amendment to include the resources for the expansion in the budget. "I challenge Senator Carlos Viana to show a single meeting he participated in within the government to discuss the metro issue," said Marcelo. He also highlighted the importance of the decision by then-Governor Romeu Zema (Novo) and his deputy, Mateus Simões (then in Novo, now in PSD), to sign the document guaranteeing the state's counterpart of R$ 400 million. "The governor and Mateus Simões had the courage to sign this counterpart without the guaranteed funding." Marcelo Álvaro Antônio also talks about his turbulent departure from the Ministry of Tourism.
