How to Submit to Literary Journals
Back in college I decided I'd like to be a published poet rather than one who just writes for herself and I started doing a lot of research into how to get my work published. The general consensus across the board was that you start by getting published in literary journals and work your way from there. I ended up interning at a literary magazine to get an idea of the inner workings and started submitting work. After a lot of trial and error and hundreds of submissions, I've gotten pretty good at figuring out what to look for, what to avoid, and how the whole process goes for the best result, so I thought I'd make a guide for anyone else who is starting off submitting their work and just learning how to do it. This guide applies to both short stories and poetry.
