Originally Echoes - Cordillera Fusion Collective, was part of the 2012 Ub Ubbo Exchange project and program for the Bangamalanha Binnadang (Bangamalanha - sharing in Wiradjuri Language; Binnadang- sharing in Kankanaey Language) cultural exchange and exhibitions. These events were held in Australia and the Philippines to celebrate the uniqueness and similarities of the indigenous peoples of the Cordillera and Wiradjuri peoples of the Central West of New South Wales, Australia. The original song production for Echoes - Cordillera Fusion Collective came as a result of an invitation to Desert Pea Media(DPM) to create cultural development workshops with indigenous peoples in Baguio City and Sagada in the Philippines, these workshops were conducted by DPM programmer Toby Finlayson and field recorder and composer Joel "Roc West" Westlake. These workshops and collaborations featured over 30 traditional Cordilleran artists and young persons. The song was developed using sounds captured in the field, recording traditional instruments and musicians.
