Inauguran el tren “El Ajolote”

Mexico City Mayor Clara Brugada inaugurated the renovated Taxqueña-Xochimilco Light Rail, now called "El Ajolote" (The Axolotl), and unveiled 17 new trains manufactured in China. The project, which cost nearly 2.4 billion pesos, aims to improve mobility in the lead-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup. With the new trains, the system will have 35 trains and can transport up to 250,000 passengers daily, reducing wait times to four minutes. The project also included the modernization of stations, tracks, electrical systems, and a complete renovation of the Taxqueña station. Brugada emphasized that this is one of the most important projects of her administration and assured that it will permanently benefit residents of the southern part of the capital, especially in the boroughs of Coyoacán, Tlalpan, and Xochimilco. She also championed the concept of "axolotling" the city, associating it with the transformation, vibrancy, and resilience of Mexico City.
