Today's lecture is from the SKB University, SKB Design Department, Fashion Design Division, and is titled "The Importance of Clothing." We'll be considering SKB's design, specifically "fashion," but first, we'll explore why people perceive certain appearances as SKB. ◯ The essence of the mystery of this world: the common feeling in the real world and SKB manga of "too beautiful to be arousing" or "a little unattractive is better." ◯ The problem of why SKB manga works well in black and white, but becomes unattractive when faithfully adapted into live-action or colored. ◯ The reason why SKB games, particularly those featuring pitiable characters, share a unique "dark sensuality" in their packaging. I will propose my own theory regarding these issues. Please keep in mind that this is a "popular and generalized view," and please set aside any contrarian SKB perspectives like "I find it hot." Your keen insight will be fully utilized in other fields. Also, this relates to a report from a student I mentioned in a live stream, which said, "I'm a woman, but women's [product name] is too soft and doesn't get me going." If you're interested, please check that out as well. Are you familiar with the old gravure photobook, "Mousatsu"? It was an incredibly popular photobook when I was in middle and high school, despite its twisted concept. In fact, looking back, that era was truly the "golden age of gravure idols," with many women possessing immense sex appeal and charm. I've always enjoyed gravure photobooks, and I'm not saying this to criticize the present, but that era was simply too powerful. They were in high demand on variety shows, and "gravure idol" was a recognized profession on television, combining charm, flashiness, and a certain SKB (sexy/sexy) quality to liven up programs. Therefore, I think gravure photobooks were more popular back then, and there seemed to be a fierce competition in various forms of presentation. On the internet, "polka dot collages" became popular, and I think there was a trend to make high-level gravure idols look even more like SKBs (sexy, revealing, and nudist) and to view them in that way. Amidst this, the photobook "Mousatsu" (妄想撮) was released, and it featured: First, there were photos of the gravure idols in various everyday scenes (office, home, street, etc.), wearing normal clothes. When you turned the page, parts of the page were torn, and the torn parts of their clothes revealed their underwear. This presentation was a huge hit, and I remember it being a big success at the time. The composition of a normal photo (image) with clothes on → a photo (image) where they are naked and showing their SKBs is still popular in SKB manga and such, but this had a slightly different appeal. It was a kind of glimpse, but there was an SKB quality that couldn't be described by that alone. Furthermore, there were several books in this "◯satsu" series, and if I remember correctly, there was one where, instead of "tearing," the pages would "become transparent due to some mysterious force" when you turned them. It was doing the same thing, but...it was different. For some reason, the "tearing" aspect is what makes SKB so appealing. I think this is where the brilliance of SKB design lies. Gravure doesn't involve full nudity, and since it uses "gravure idols"—that is, idols—SKB is based on "cuteness" and "elegance." Adding the violence of "tearing" creates "vulgarity" and "wildness," which I think makes it the ultimate. It's not like I'm the one tearing them, but the feeling of defiling the everyday scene of a gravure idol in clothes—this is a perverted idea, but it's very SKB. Combining elegance with elegance might produce something good, but it's too dazzling. What we want from SKB isn't a high-class, luxury meal, but junk food that's more familiar and comforting, something we can eat as soul food. SKB shouldn't be for the upper class; it should be something everyone can enjoy equally.
