The 2026 Amarnath Yatra is scheduled to begin on July 3rd and conclude on Rakshabandhan, August 28th. Preparations for the pilgrimage have intensified at the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu, from where the first batch of pilgrims will depart on July 2nd. Meanwhile, the first image of Baba Barfani from the holy Amarnath cave has emerged, revealing a seven-foot-tall ice Shivalinga now fully formed. Snow removal work is underway on the yatra route, and the path is expected to be cleared by June 15th. For security reasons, the Home Ministry has decided to deploy 670 companies of the Central Armed Police Force. So far, more than 360,000 pilgrims have registered this year, and a total of over 500,000 pilgrims are expected to arrive.
