Preparing to ride 150k plus is the modern Gravel bike, just an XC bike?

Theres 2 reasons for doing this, the main one, taking part in the Global Fat Viking Fatbike event, the second is basically seeing how my fitness is, can I ride it? The video shows me preparing a suitable bike, swopping parts and setting things up.
