A heated controversy erupted in Medellín after the mayor's office decided to erase the mural honoring the mothers searching for victims of violence in that city, whose members were allegedly buried in the La Escombrera neighborhood. After the order was issued to cover the graffiti with gray paint, several art groups in the city repainted it and are calling for respect for freedom of expression, the memory of those who lost their lives, and the pain of the families still waiting for the truth. In contrast, the local government warns that the law on the occupation of public space is being violated.
