Stomping at the Savoy - Paramount 341
Here is my first video on our new Paramount 341 Virtual Organ This is a little tribute to the career birthplace to some of the finest musicians of the Swing Era, the Savoy Ballroom, New York. Chick Webb and Ella Fitzgerald started out here - look out for a little nod to the first lady of song in this arrangement. "Stomping at the Savoy" (1934) is usually credited to Benny Goodman, Chick Webb, Edgar Sampson, and Andy Razaf, it was written and arranged by Sampson, Webb's alto saxophonist. Both Webb and Goodman recorded it as an instrumental, Goodman's being the bigger hit. Lyrics were added by popular lyricist Andy Razaf. Look out for the wonderfully anarchic performance from Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong in 1956 surrounded by one of the finest ensembles of musicians ever assembled. This piece shows off the jazzier side of our new instrument, with a whole host of new percussion samples included. For more details visit http://www.paramountoranworks.com
