In Christian beliefs, Prophet Jesus was crucified, buried, and resurrected in Jerusalem at a location known as Golgotha (or Calvary), which has been recognized since the 4th century as the site of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. The site is located in the Christian Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem. The Church of the Holy Sepulchre contains the traditional site of Calvary (the hill of crucifixion) and the empty tomb (Edicule) where Jesus is believed to have been buried and resurrected. This site has been revered since the era of Emperor Constantine.
