CBR300R - How to Remove the Engine

At long last, we're ready to to drop the engine out! Take your time and keep track of your parts and fasteners. I'd say this is a medium difficulty project. Each individual task is pretty easy, but this will take some time and you need to be thorough. Before following this video, there are several prep steps that need to take place first: Service Stands:    • Service Stands   Remove Fairings:    • CBR300R - Fairing Removal   Remove Battery:    • CBR300R - Battery Removal   Drain Coolant:    • CBR300R - How to Drain the Coolant   Drain Oil:    • CBR300R - How to Drain the Oil   Remove Fuel Tank, Airbox, and Throttle Body:    • CBR300R - How to Remove the Fuel Tank, Air...   Remove Exhaust:    • CBR300R - How to Remove the Exhaust   With all that pre-work done, dropping the engine out should take less than an hour. To drop the engine out 1) Remove the drive sprocket cover, held on by two 8mm bolts 2) Detatch the clutch cable guide (two 8mm bolts) and free the clutch cable tip 3) Disconnect the two starter motor wires with a 10mm socket 4) Remove the gear shift arm by backing off the 10mm pinch bolt and pulling it off the splines 5) Get free of the drive chain by removing the front sprocket - to do this, put start by putting some slack in the chain by moving the rear wheel forward. Rear axle is 19mm, lock nuts are 12mm, adjusting nuts are 14mm. Drive sprocket bolts are both 10mm, slide the fixing plate and sprocket off of the splines, and then pull the chain off the sprocket. 6) Remove the two radiator hoses by loosening the hose clamps with a 6mm bolt and pulling them free of the barbs 7) Unplug the spark plug by using a large screwdriver as a lever 8) Unplug the 4 electrical connections 9) Unbolt the forward mounting bolts (upper is 14mm for nut and bolt, lower is 14mm for bolt and 17mm for nut, and hanger plate bolts are 14mm) 10) Unbolt the rear mounting bolts (both bolts and both nuts are all 14mm) 11) Lower the engine while rotating the top back and scooting the bottom forward.
