[LIVE] Ministerial statement: PM Lawrence Wong on US tariffs and their implications

Prime Minister Lawrence Wong gave a ministerial statement in Parliament on Tuesday (Apr 8), addressing sweeping US tariffs and how these could impact Singapore. He announced that the Singapore government will set up a taskforce chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong to help businesses and workers address immediate uncertainties, strengthen their resilience, and better adapt to the new economic environment. "We will continue to monitor developments closely. The government stands ready to do more, if and when necessary," he said. In a video statement released on Friday, Mr Wong had said the "global calm and stability we once knew will not return anytime soon".
