Episode 80 | Kabuliwala | Rabindranath Tagore | Stories by Shubha
Kabuliwala by Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore is a classic short story in world literature! For the first time almost, an Indian writer has celebrated a girl child, a daughter. Tagore was a revolutionary in many ways; his advocacy for the women’s rights made him unpopular in his times, but the visionary that he was, Tagore wanted the social fabric of his beloved country to cleanse itself and become robust and humanitarian in approach. Kabuliwala is a story that celebrates not only Mini as the little but endearing protagonist, but also the unique friendship between her and an adult and scary-looking Pathan, whom she lovingly addresses as the ‘Kabuliwala’! Jailed for committing a murder, Mini’s beloved Kabuliwala is not seen for years together. Mini grows up, and forgets this childhood friend. However, the kabuliwala, who has seen the replica of his own daughter in the little Mini, never forgets her. Released from jail, the old, weakened Pathan, dressed in torn clothes, first comes over to visit Mini. Coincidentally, that is the day Mini is getting married. Tagore has brilliantly captured the emotions of a father who longs to have a glimpse of his daughter back in Afghanistan. And like the champion of humanity that he was, he understands the plight and the sheer misery of the Pathan. Human emotions are just the same, across geographical and political boundaries. The longing for a loved one brings tears to the eyes of every sensitive human! Listen to this brilliant classic story, in the mesmerizing voice of Dr. Shubha Nigam, and get transformed into the world of Mini and the Kabuliwala! #Kabuliwala #RabindranathTagore #TagoreStories #IndianLiterature #ClassicStories #TSCStoriesByShubha #MiniAndKabuliwala #TimelessTales #DrShubhaNigamNarration #FriendshipStories #FatherDaughterBond #HumanEmotions #LoveAndLonging #LiteraryGems #StoriesThatTouchHearts #WomenEmpowerment #TagoreLegacy #MustListen #StorytellingMagic #CelebratingHumanity
