Turn Advanced Vocabulary Into Fluent Speech | C1–C2 English Shadowing | Part 14

Knowing advanced vocabulary is not enough. To speak fluently, you need to retrieve the right words quickly and use them naturally in complete sentences. Welcome to Part 14 from English In Your World. This C1–C2 English shadowing lesson is designed to help you turn passive vocabulary into active, confident speech. Instead of memorising isolated definitions, you will hear advanced words, collocations, linking phrases, and natural sentence patterns used in meaningful contexts. You will then repeat each sentence aloud and copy the speaker’s pronunciation, rhythm, stress, and intonation. The goal is not to use difficult words simply to sound impressive. The goal is to choose precise, natural language that helps you express complex ideas clearly. In this lesson, you will practise advanced English for: • Expressing detailed and nuanced opinions • Explaining complicated ideas clearly • Describing emotions and personal experiences • Discussing problems and possible solutions • Agreeing and disagreeing diplomatically • Talking about success, ambition, and progress • Discussing society, technology, and modern life • Clarifying and reformulating your ideas • Comparing different viewpoints • Speaking in longer, better-organised answers 🎧 HOW TO USE THIS SHADOWING LESSON First round: Listen to the complete sentence and focus on its meaning. Second round: Repeat immediately after the speaker. Copy the natural rhythm, stress, pronunciation, and intonation. Third round: Pause the video and say the sentence independently without reading the subtitles. Final round: Replace part of the sentence with your own idea and create a new example. Do not rush. Clear and accurate repetition is more valuable than speaking quickly with unclear pronunciation. By completing this lesson, you will practise how to: • Activate advanced vocabulary while speaking • Use C1–C2 words in natural contexts • Reduce hesitation and word-by-word translation • Improve pronunciation and connected speech • Build automatic sentence patterns • Organise complex ideas more clearly • Speak with greater precision • Respond to questions more confidently • Maintain longer conversations • Sound more articulate without sounding unnatural ⏱️ TIMELINE 00:00 – Welcome to Part 14 01:50 – Why advanced vocabulary remains passive 05:25 – Shadowing warm-up and pronunciation practice 09:40 – Vocabulary for opinions and perspectives 14:35 – Phrases for explaining complex ideas 19:30 – Vocabulary for agreement and disagreement 24:25 – Describing emotions with greater precision 29:20 – Talking about challenges and setbacks 34:15 – Vocabulary for progress and achievement 39:10 – Discussing work, goals, and ambition 44:05 – Vocabulary for decisions and consequences 49:00 – Discussing technology and modern society 53:55 – Comparing different viewpoints 58:50 – Clarifying and reformulating your ideas 01:03:45 – Advanced linking phrases for fluent speech 01:08:40 – Longer C1–C2 shadowing sentences 01:13:35 – Faster repetition and response challenge 01:18:20 – Final speaking practice 01:21:30 – Review and closing message 🗣️ FINAL SPEAKING CHALLENGE Answer the following question aloud: Is having a large vocabulary the most important part of speaking English fluently? Speak for at least two minutes. Introduce your opinion, explain your reasoning, give an example, consider another viewpoint, and finish with a clear conclusion. Try to include at least five advanced words or expressions from this lesson. 💡 DAILY PRACTICE RECOMMENDATION Choose ten sentences from this video and repeat them every day for one week. On the first day, focus on understanding the meaning. On the second day, focus on pronunciation. On the third day, focus on rhythm and connected speech. After that, practise saying the sentences without looking at the screen. Finally, change the sentences so that they describe your own experiences and opinions. Vocabulary becomes part of your spoken English only when you meet it repeatedly, say it aloud, and use it to communicate your own ideas.
