In this video I show the complete 4-day saga to recover a white Jiu-Jitsu kimono that turned yellowed and had rust stains after being stored for a long time. The kimono was dirty, with a yellowed collar and rust marks, probably from being in contact with a screw or metal. I tested all the recipes that people use to wash BJJ kimonos and I'll show you what really worked. I started by rubbing the kimono by hand, then I used Azul Limpa rust remover which cost 9 reais and 98 cents. On the second day, I made a cocktail with Vanish and baking soda, soaking it overnight. On the third day, I heated water in pots, mixed it with Vanish and baking soda, and soaked the kimono in this hot infusion. Then I scrubbed it with coconut soap that cost between 3 and 4 reais and put it in the washing machine. The kimono was a Stormstrong brand and withstood the entire intense washing process. This video is essential for any jiu-jitsu practitioner who has a white kimono stored at home or who wants to keep their equipment always impeccable on the mat. It works for both white belts who just bought their first BJJ kimono and blue, purple, or black belts who have that old kimono sitting in their closet. The combination of hot water, Vanish, baking soda, and coconut soap was what solved the problem, removing almost all the yellowish stain from the collar and significantly improving the rust marks.
