Where to find used camera gear in the US.
I discuss various options to purchase used camera gear, from local camera shops to numerous websites online. Some with great return policies as well as warranties, others... no so much. I'm a big advocate of buying used if you are on a budget. Right now my Nikon D750, Nikon 35-70mm, and the Sigma 100-300mm f4 were bought used. The D750 from my local camera shop, the Nikon from KEH, and the Sigma from ebay. I tend to use whatever service works best for the type of gear I am interested in. There are a few options when considering used camera equipment. 1. See if you have a local shop that sells used gear. Camera Craft does consignment and trade-in. I've purchased various used items from them in the past. I've also traded-in and consigned a lot. 2. There are various websites that offer used equipment such as KEH, B&H, and Adorama. These companies usually offer warranties and decent return policies. 3. Lens rental websites sell their equipment, but warranty and return policies are not as favorable as a place like KEH. 4. Ebay, Amazon marketplace, Craigslist, Facebook groups, and many internet forums. This is a big collection of options where you can sometimes get great deals, but you need knowledge to protect yourself. If you are a beginner, besides the local camera shop option if you have that available, I'd suggest going with a company that has a solid return police as well as some type of warranty. If you are well versed in camera gear and online purchasing, pretty much anything is open to you. At that point I think it is more of a time issue due to your skill level. I've sometimes spent too much time doing research and searching out prices online that end up being wasteful of my time. T hanks to Camera Craft for allowing me to film there and David for the interview!
