A visit to Campile, Co Wexford

A slideshow of photos taken during a visit to Campile in County Wexford on Monday 22nd May 2017. Campile is a village in the southwest of County Wexford. The Waterford-Rosslare railway line goes through Campile. It opened in 1906 but has not had a passenger train service since 2010. Campile was bombed by the German Luftwaffe in 26 August 1940 which killed 3 people. To the northwest of Campile is Horeswood where St. James Church and Scoil Mhuire primary school are located. St. James Church was built in 1832.It is one of two churches in Horeswood and Ballykelly Parish in the Diocese of Ferns. Scoil Mhuire opened in 1979 after the amalgamation of Aclare NS, Ballykelly NS, Horeswood NS, and Killesk NS.
