Michael & Mickey (1989)
This short film, featuring then-Disney CEO Michael Eisner and Mickey Mouse (hence the title) was produced as an outro for the Inside the Magic: Special Effects and Production Tour walkthrough attraction at the Disney-MGM Studios (now named Disney's Hollywood Studios) theme park at the Walt Disney World resort in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, playing in the Walt Disney Theater at the end of the tour before previews of upcoming Disney films. An edited version of this short would serve as the introduction for The Best of Disney: 50 Years of Magic television special that aired in 1991. The scene where Mickey asks the person in front of him to move, only for said person to be revealed as Chernabog from Fantasia and Mickey screams in terror became an internet meme in late 2021, with Chernabog's reveal being replaced with something else that's also seen as scary, and on some occasions Mickey's scream is replaced with other memetic screams. Among those that worked on this short film included Jerry Rees (The short's director who is best known for directing & co-writing the 1987 animated feature, "The Brave Little Toaster" and creating many of visual effects for the 1982 cult classic, "Tron".), Bruce W. Smith (He animated Mickey in the opening scene at Eisner's office. He is best known as the creator of the Disney Channel series, "The Proud Family" and its recent revival, "The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder". His other known work included his work on various movies by Walt Disney Animation (Such as "Tarzan" (1999), "The Emperor's New Groove" (2000), "The Princess and the Frog" (2009) and "Winnie the Pooh" (2011)) and co-directing Sony Animation's Oscar-wining short film, "Hair Love" (2019).) and Frans Vischer (He animated the scene between Mickey and Chernabog. He worked on various animated movies over the years, such as Disney & Amblin's "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" (1988), Turner Feature Animation's "Cats Don't Dance" (1997), DreamWorks Animation's "The Road to El Dorado" (2000), Universal's "Curious George" (2006), Disney's "The Princess and the Frog" (2009) and even 20th Century Fox's "The Simpsons Movie" (2007).). Special thanks to Gary93 at the Internet Archive. Mickey Mouse and other characters who appear in this short are owned by The Walt Disney Company, with the character of Roger Rabbit (from "Who Framed Roger Rabbit" (1988).) being co-owned by Amblin Entertainment. © 1989.
