OECD work on higher-order thinking in higher education explicitly includes critical thinking, evaluation, problem-solving, creativity, and creative thinking; UNESCO likewise emphasizes that education for sustainable development cultivates critical thinking, imagining future scenarios, and decision-making. This is exactly the kind of intellectual muscle higher education must strengthen if it is to remain relevant.
