So why do some anime get sequels while other anime don't get a sequel? Rather than anime studios having power in that decision all the power is actually in the hands of the production committee. Production committees are formed by various companies that see investment potential such as music labels, distributors, broadcasters, merchandisers, advertisers, and the company that owns the original source. Not many anime studios get to be on that board. So when something goes wrong in an animation production, don''t blame the animation studio time, they're usually just contracted to do the work.
