Logic gates are the basic elements that make up a logic circuit, such as the processor and the chips embedded in a computer. There are seven basic logic gates: the inverter (or NOT gate), the logical OR (OR), the logical AND (AND), the exclusive OR (XOR), and their respective inverted gates: NOR, NAND, and XNOR.
