What began as a photography expedition across Kazakhstan gradually became something much more. I traveled to photograph extraordinary landscapes—ancient canyons, turquoise alpine lakes, wild horses, and the legendary peak of Khan Tengri. But somewhere along the way, I realized this journey wasn't really about the photographs. It became a story about awe. About perspective. About friendship. And about why we continue exploring in the first place. As both a physician and photographer, I've become fascinated by the growing body of research showing that experiences of awe can positively influence our mental and emotional well-being. My hope is that through photography and filmmaking, these remarkable places can inspire a sense of wonder—not only for those who travel there, but also for those experiencing them from home. This feature-length documentary brings together the complete Kazakhstan journey into one cinematic story.
