You SHOULD use external motivation

Blue Lock is a very unique anime, but above all it's extremely motivating: Isagi and other characters such as Barou and Chigiri provide a very unique, motivating view on the sport and the world. In episode 11, Isagi scores a "direct shot" (volley) to give team Z the win over team V, allowing them to survive and clear the first stage. But this isn't the route Isagi would ordinarily take, it's a weapon he discovered on the spot there and then. But why was he suddenly able to score that, when he believed he previously couldn't?
